Owner residence under ROP Decision 87/2026, in plain words
Own a registered unit, and you can live here without a sponsor.
- Since 22 June 2026, a foreigner who owns a registered unit, or one still being registered, can get residence without a sponsor.
- The decision text sets no minimum property price.
- A buyer of a plot, or of a unit still being registered, can get a sponsor-free visa valid six months to a year, extendable.
- Owner residence ends when the unit is sold or transferred, and family residence ends with it.
- The owner's residence is granted on a certificate from the competent authority. The decision does not set how long each permit lasts.
- This is separate from Golden Residency, a renewable 10 year residency for investments from OMR 200,000 (Ministry of Commerce, 2025).
